Objective To investigate the effects of person-environment-occupation(PEO)model combined with the case extended care management on clinical therapeutic effects, adaptive behaviour, and out-of-hospital accidental injury in school-age children with epilepsy. Methods A total of 100 school-age children with epilepsy admitted to our hospital between January 2024 and January 2025 were selected as the study participants. The children were divided into an experimental group and a control group according to the preferences of the children and parents, with 50 children per group. Children in the control group received a protocol of medicationcognition-continuity intervention, while those in the experimental group received the PEO model combined with the case extended care management on the basis of medication-cognition-continuity intervention. Clinical efficacy, scores of children’s adaptive behaviour scale before and after intervention, and the occurrence of accidental injury during out-of-hospital seizures were compared between the two groups. Results A total of 100 school-age children with epilepsy completed the study. After intervention, it was found that the effective rate in the experimental group(96.00%)was higher than that in the control group(70.00%). The scores of children’s adaptive behaviour scale improved more in the experimental group than those in the control group. The incidence of out-of-hospital accidental injury in the experimental group(2.00%)was lower than that in the control group(16.00%). All the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05). Conclusion PEO model combined with the case extended care management can improve clinical therapeutic effects, reduce the incidence of out-of-hospital accidental injury, and improve adaptive behaviour in school-age children with epilepsy.
